Choosing a stairlift manufacturer is not simply a matter of comparing a seat, a colour or a specification sheet. For MPG, the practical question is: can the solution be adapted to the actual staircase without making daily life harder for everyone else in the home?
That criterion is at the heart of our partnership with the Dutch manufacturer Otolift. After more than 2,000 installations in Luxembourg, we look first for a solution that adapts to the home, rather than forcing the home to adapt to the lift.
A rail made for the actual staircase
Staircases in Luxembourg homes are rarely standard. Tight turns, short landings, doors close to the start of the rail and routes over several floors are common. The rail therefore needs to follow the existing geometry precisely.
During the free home survey, MPG measures the staircase. The route is then planned to preserve as much walking width, handrail access and doorway clearance as possible. Custom elements also allow the rail to start and finish in the right place instead of imposing a standard layout.
Our installations in Luxembourg show practical examples, including rails fitted close to a handrail, two-floor routes and starts designed to keep a passage clear.
Smart and Two: two answers to different constraints
We do not select a model before seeing the staircase. Otolift's two principal solutions complement one another.

The Modul-Air Smart uses a compact 60 mm monorail. It works on straight stairs and many curved configurations and can often preserve the existing handrail. Hybrid rail elements and tailored starts can be used when every centimetre matters.
The Otolift Two uses a double rail. It is particularly useful for certain tight turns, spiral staircases and outdoor projects. The correct choice always depends on the route, available space, the user and the environment.
Keeping the staircase usable
A stairlift should not make the stairs unusable for the rest of the household. We therefore examine the remaining walking width, the folded position of the seat, proximity to the handrail and circulation space at the top and bottom.
The photograph of this MPG installation shows the principle clearly: the curved rail follows the inside of the stairwell while the handrail remains available. This design work is often more important than comparing two machines in a catalogue.
A product we can install and support locally
Product quality is only part of the equation. MPG must also be able to survey, install, maintain and repair the equipment in Luxembourg. Our technicians know the Otolift range and serve all 100 municipalities in the country.
Otolift provides a lifetime warranty on the rail and motor of its Smart and Two models, subject to the manufacturer's conditions. Depending on availability, MPG also offers reconditioned Air or Smart stairlifts, inspected and covered by a two-year MPG warranty. This can reduce the initial cost and extend the useful life of existing equipment.

The right solution for the right home
We chose Otolift because its range allows us to address very different staircases without imposing one standard model. The brand never replaces an on-site assessment: a good installation starts with measurements, the user's habits and the constraints of the home.
Depending on the individual circumstances, possible support through Luxembourg's Care Insurance may be considered after an AEC assessment and decision. It is best to understand the process before ordering equipment.
