Quick installation with no building work
One of the most frequent questions we receive is: "Does stairlift installation require major building work?" The answer is simple: no. Stairlift installation is a relatively quick and non-invasive process that requires no structural modifications to your home.
Step 1: The technical home visit
Everything starts with a free, no-obligation technical visit to your home. An MPG technician assesses:
Your staircase: type (straight, curved, spiral), dimensions, number of steps, angle of inclination
The environment: available width, ceiling height, door positions, power sockets
Your needs: weight capacity, control preferences (armrest, foot, remote), seat colour
This visit takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes. It's the opportunity to ask all your questions and discuss the various options.
Step 2: Precision 3D measurement
Once you've chosen your model, we carry out a precision measurement of your staircase. At MPG, we use a latest-generation digital 3D measurement system that captures every detail of your staircase: every curve, every angle, every irregularity.
This data is transmitted directly to the factory where your rail will be custom-manufactured. For straight staircases, this step is simplified as the rail is standard.
The precision of this measurement is crucial: it guarantees that the rail will perfectly follow the shape of your staircase, with no play or friction.

Step 3: Rail manufacture
For curved staircases, the rail is custom-manufactured in the factory. This process typically takes 2 to 4 weeks. For straight staircases, the standard rail is often available immediately.
During this time, we coordinate the installation date that suits you best.
Step 4: Installation
On installation day, our team of certified technicians arrives at your home. The installation includes:
Rail fixing
Seat or platform mounting
Safety tests
User training
How long does installation take?
Installation duration depends on the staircase type:
- Straight staircase: 2 to 3 hours on average
- Simple curved staircase: 3 to 4 hours
- Complex curved staircase (multiple floors, landings): 4 to 6 hours
- Platform stairlift: 4 to 8 hours depending on the model
In the vast majority of cases, installation is completed in a single day.
Electrical requirements
The stairlift requires only a standard power socket (230V) near the charging station (usually at the bottom or top of the stairs). No special electrical installation is needed.

The stairlift runs on rechargeable batteries, meaning it continues to work even during a power cut, an essential safety feature.
No structural modifications
This is a crucial and reassuring point: stairlift installation requires no structural modifications to your home:
- No drilling into walls
- No floor reinforcement
- No modification to the banister
- No masonry work
The rail is fixed to the treads with reversible fixings. If you ever decide to remove the stairlift, the treads return to their original appearance.
Safety: essential features
All the stairlifts we install are equipped with numerous safety features:
- Safety belt: mandatory and simple to use
- Obstacle sensors: the stairlift stops automatically if an obstacle is detected on the path
- Swivel seat: at the top of the stairs, the seat swivels for safe access
- Foldable footrest and armrests: to leave the passage clear
- Constant pressure control: the stairlift only moves while the control is held
- Key lock: to prevent unauthorised use
Warranty and maintenance
All our stairlifts come with a manufacturer's warranty. MPG also provides regular maintenance and repairs as needed. Our after-sales service is responsive and operates quickly throughout Luxembourg.
Annual maintenance is recommended to ensure optimal operation and extend the lifespan of your stairlift.
